The Tutor 2E Double Drive System. Close up shot reveals that it is designed to hold 2x Opti rotators, in a strikingly
similar configuration to the Solar 250.
The downside to fitting two effects into one gate is loss of light intensity. Years ago, when only one projector could
be afforded, this was the accepted way of doing it.
To create this type of effect nowadays, (if you have the projectors) it's far more efficient to use one projector
for each effect.
Place or suspend the two projectors side by side, or above and below. Focus into the same location, without any effect
in place, switch off no.2, insert effect into number one, focus the effect and turn off, turn on number 2, repeat operation,
then bring back number one into operation.
Be dazzled!!

| Many thanks to Matt Leys for this one! |
Some time ago, someone contacted me via the site, to enquire as to whether I was interested in buying a Tutor 2E, and
would I care to make an offer for one with a rotator and liquid wheel.
As most of these are generally in terrible condition, I was a little sceptical.
I made an offer, it was accepted and I travelled to London to pay and collect.
Here, I had the privilege of meeting Matt Leys, a T.V. writer, whose name often appears on the credits of
"The Bill" plus many other programmes. Matt said that as soon as he saw my website, he knew where his old
projector had to go.
Here it is, in absolutely fabulous condition.
Many thanks again Matt.

Reaching the market a little bit late. The Tutor 2E, "E" standing for effects.
The Tutor 2 was an extremely good educational projector, adaptable to create excellent lightshows, but
it did have it's faults. It didn't have flying brackets and the fan needed regular maintenance. Rank did nothing to
develop this market until Optikinetics introduced the Solar 250.
What did they then do? Decreased production costs by deleting the I.E.C. connector in favour of
a fixed mains lead, which was of course shorter, removed the handle and fitted a cheaper lens and mains transformer.
Later ones had the added bonus of a scooped out front, in order to accommodate an extra drive motor.
